These Car Sharing Etiquette Tips Will Steer You in the Right Direction

Blink Mobility is a 100% electric car sharing service and part of the City of Los Angeles’s mobility solutions. Blink Mobility is available to anyone over 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license. Members have access to a network of shared electric vehicles 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, at self-service locations throughout central Los Angeles.

Interested in car sharing? Below are a few tips on the etiquette of car sharing to make each driver’s use the best experience possible.

  •  Return the car to where it belongs.

Blink Mobility has a lot of flexibility in the car-return process. Drivers can return the car to the nearest location any time of day or night, not only to the site from which they borrowed the car. However, the car still has to be returned to a Blink Mobility station when the rental is over.

  • Recharge the vehicle.

While most companies require re-charging if the battery is at or below 25%, doing so is the polite choice regardless of the charge level. Avoid fees by not leaving an uncharged vehicle for the next user.

  • Keep the car clean.

Please don’t leave cans, wrappers, boxes, or any trash in the vehicle after use. Imagine if someone borrowed a car from you and left a mess behind! Please remember to take all of your belongings with you.

  • Make a note of any damage.

Look around the car and note any inside or outside damage using the Blink Mobility App. This will allow Blink Mobility to know what needs to be repaired and make sure you don’t get penalized for damages you did not cause. If an accident or damage occurred while you were using the car, please contact Blink Mobility customer support as soon as it is safe to do so.

  • Avoid overuse of air conditioning, heat, and electronics.

Electric vehicles run on batteries, and those batteries fuel the car and for every human comfort inside the cabin. The more air, heat, and electronics are over-used, the less fuel you will have for the vehicle. Please maintain reasonable use of amenities.

  • Take advantage of a Blink package.

Some car sharing companies, including Blink, offer package deals to save drivers money. Try the 3-Hour City Sprint, perfect for running errands, visiting friends, or dropping by your favorite museum. Another choice is the 5-Hour Break Away, great for going to the beach, moving across town, or a full day shopping. Blink’s packages save you 45% on regular rates.

These basic guidelines will always have you pointed in the right direction! For less!
